International Neonatal Screening Day

International Neonatal Screening Day

International Newborn Screening Day is observed annually on June 28th.

The International Neonatal Screening Day serves as a reminder of the importance of these screening programs and encourages collaboration and knowledge sharing to enhance their effectiveness. It's a day to celebrate the successes of newborn screening and to work towards ensuring that all newborns have access to these vital tests

The date was chosen to honor Dr. Robert Guthrie, the microbiologist who developed the first newborn screening test for PKU and the blood-spot collection method.
